FREE COMMUNITY EVENT - SPACES ARE LIMITED

Discover the Adelaide CBD through a green lens. The hunt includes a variety of fun, interactive challenges, allowing you to observe biodiversity, find green initiatives, and propose areas for improvement on how we can better embrace and collaborate with nature in our beautiful city.

We will meet at the Adelaide Riverbank Lawns at 2pm, have a brief introduction and welcome circle before splitting off into groups and beginning the challenge. Please aim to arrive 10 minutes early so we have optimal scavenging time!

The hunt aspect is purely to discover the wonders of the beautiful land in Tardanya/Adelaide, you will be asked to take some photos, but please do not touch or interact with plants or wildlife that you may encounter along the experience.

Come along to meet new people, find out how you can be more active in the community, and come away with a strengthened love for the environment.

Psst, yes, there’ll be a prize for the team with the most points but everyone gets a little something to say thank you for coming!

Resilient by Nature: Creating Climate-Resilient Native Habitats

Green Adelaide will help you discover how to create a thriving habitat for Adelaide’s native wildlife right in your own backyard!

This hands-on workshop introduces the key principles of wildlife friendly gardening, helping you discover which local animals are in your area, what they need to thrive, and how to design a space that supports them.

By choosing native plants and a smart design, you aren’t just helping local wildlife - you’re building climate resilience right where you live. Native habitats cope better with harsh summers, use less water, and provide vital cooling islands for local fauna. It’s a win-win for you and nature!

You’ll also get the chance to get your hands dirty! Participants will have the opportunity to plant local species in The Precinct’s garden, gaining practical, real-world planting skills.

Retired, a reformed teacher of English and a student of contemporary politics, Tony believes that our future as a species lies in our ability to collaboratively understand and value our planet and all life on it because all life is utterly dependent on the planet’s health.

Moira Were AM has been hosting community conversations for decades on topics that help us reflect on the past, draw wisdom into our present choices and decisions to propel us forward to be good ancestors rather than prophets of doom. Join us at the Flinders Park Community Garden for a hands on gardening experience. Our community garden is a free space where anyone can pick what they need, and meet their local community in a friendly relaxed atmosphere.

The Emerging Leaders Expo is the flagship event for youth at Adelaide Climate Action Week. By young people, for young people.

Young South Australians aged 16-25 are doing serious climate work right now, in classrooms, communities, labs, art studios and on Country. Too often that work goes unseen and unconnected. The Expo exists to change that.

Whether you’re already deep in the climate space or just starting to find your way in, if you’re a young person engaged in or curious about climate action, this evening is for you. Climate action looks different across every community, industry and creative practice and all of it belongs in this room.

What to expect:

A space lined with posters showcasing climate projects led by young South Australians

Real conversations with the people behind the work

Networking games and a collective zine-making table

Mentors from across the climate sector ready to talk about your work, your ideas and what comes next, whether that’s a new collaborator, a pathway into the sector, or simply knowing you’re not doing this alone.

The format prioritises lateral connection over hierarchy. There is no main stage and no keynote. No polished pitch required.

The exhibited posters will be captured in a permanent digital archive on the ACAW website, giving visibility to the incredible work already being done by young people across this state.

In the lead up to the Emerging Leaders Expo we will be providing support for those making posters including examples and an in person poster making a working bee, as well as being available to chat and answer any of your questions.

An interactive workshop with community as part of co creating SA’s statewide climate movement strategy Join us for the very first co creation workshop to help shape the South Australia’s statewide climate and environment movement strategy.

This open workshop invites everyone involved in—or passionate about— nature, biodiversity and climate to connect, collaborate and create a shared vision for a stronger movement.

Why a statewide movement strategy?

The co created statewide movement strategy brings together a diverse cohort of community members, grassroots groups, campaigners, volunteers, advocates, and organisations to create a shared vision and plan for our movement.

Through this process we

build connections and partnerships

identify our movement’s strengths and needs

define our shared priorities and goals

develop a clear, practical plan on how to achieve this together

We’ve only just started and have already had one on one conversations with over 20 community organisers, campaigners, leaders, co-design experts, strategists, and movement builders to devise the plan for this co creation process.

If 2023 was the spark, 2024 will be the big bang. And that’s why Rising Tide is going on tour. Renew Australia for All is a new, people-powered coalition backed by unions, social services, First Nations, environment and climate organisations, multicultural organisations, clean industry, faith groups and local community groups. We are united in our belief that Australia must act faster, and guarantee fairness, if we are to reap the benefits of the global shift to a clean economy in our homes, workplaces, and communities. It’s why we’re seeking a historic climate solutions package from the Federal government.

Renew Australia for All will host an Adelaide ‘listening tour’ event to gather the views and perspectives of people experiencing climate and energy challenges first hand and local knowledge about climate solutions in your community. We will share the outcomes and findings with national decision makers in Canberra and elsewhere.

What is Litltle Climate Heroes: The Little Climate Heroes meet up is a child-centred space to empower our smallest ones with the knowledge, passion and purpose to work to protect our environment, advocate for change, and find fulfilment and purpose in community and in nature.

This Collective is shaped by all who want to participate. We welcome decentralised decision-making and shared ownership and purpose. In our ‘constellation model’ of organising, Constellation groups will form around specific initiatives, led by those best-placed to take them forward. A stewardship group will support the Collective by convening events, connecting people and ideas, establishing communications channels, brokering learning, seeking shared resources, and enabling collaboration.

Adelaide Climate Action Week (ACAW) is South Australia’s inaugural community-led climate festival, taking place 27 July – 2 August 2026 across Adelaide and beyond. This is the official public launch — and your invitation to get involved from the ground up.

Join founders, community leaders, and key guest speakers as we officially unveil ACAW: what it is, why it matters, and what a week-long, whole-of-society climate festival means for South Australia right now.

Gas is a dirty fossil fuel and one of the biggest drivers of the climate crisis. Santos is a giant gas company with plans for massive gas expansions in Narrabri in north-west New South Wales, and in the Beetaloo Basin in central Northern Territory. Santos have their Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 16th April in Adelaide. Santos executives, major shareholders, and the business media will all be in attendance.

We need lots of signs, colour and noise to make this rally powerful!

Traditional Owners impacted by Santos plans are travelling to Adelaide, to speak at the Santos AGM. We’re organising a rally outside the AGM in solidarity!

Santos has plans for climate-cooking gas expansions in Narrabri in north-west New South Wales, and in the Beetaloo Basin in central Northern Territory.

The Narrabri project has been resisted by Gomeroi people for a decade. Garrawa people are concerned that fracking in the Beetaloo could impact precious songlines.

The media will be at the AGM. Join this rally and ensure everyone can see that the community stands with Traditional Owners battling Santos.

Santos are headquartered in Adelaide. That’s why Traditional Owners are travelling all the way from New South Wales and the Northern Territory, to confront Santos in a series of actions right here in South Australia.

To coincide with this delegation of Traditional Owners being in Adelaide, we’ve organised a forum where you can learn more about their fight with Santos. We’ll also be joined by Australian Conservation Foundation CEO, Adam Bandt.

Her session is around eco-anxiety as the problem / symptom, but is mostly about addressing it through understanding the stories that cause that and learning how to shift them.

Trish Hansen works across arts, culture, health, design and community. Based on Kaurna Country, she leads ReWonder, works in Arts in Health, and writes children’s fiction. Shaped by the oceans and the spirit of seafaring, through her father’s Norse ancestry and her mother’s Celtic roots in wild places - Trish grew up on the unceded lands of the Kaurna People, on Tarntanya Country, South Australia, with the red gums along the creek.

What’s the Story? Tending stories worthy of the best of us The ecological crisis has emerged from a deeper cultural crisis: a crisis of story, belonging, imagination, and relationship.

Many of the stories we have inherited are exhausting us. Ways of living shaped by narratives told over centuries, and by industry-centric worldviews cultivated over millennia, are no longer serving us or the planet.

Now, as we live mostly among strangers, often with vastly different ways of seeing the world, beyond the coherence of kinship, we face unprecedented challenges of extraordinary scale and complexity together.

We have never done this before. Not in the 4.5 billion years it has taken for life to evolve to this moment.

And yet, other stories are stirring.

Stories of interdependence. Stories of enoughness. Stories of courage, reciprocity, and care. Stories that remember we are part of the living world.

This session offers participants a space to reconnect with what they love and to honour what hurts. It invites us to consider that eco-anxiety may not be pathology, but a natural response when what we care about is under threat. From that place, together we will explore:

What stories are exhausting us? What stories are asking to emerge? What stories hold shared meaning? What stories are coherent enough to trust? How might stories become sources of wisdom, identity, and ritual? What stories might we tend now? The planet is not failing us - our stories are. It’s all cultural.

Action Network For everyone everywhere interested in Extinction Rebellion this talk, ‘Heading for Extinction (and what to do about it)’ is your entry point. We are facing climate and ecological catastrophe, and time is running out. Our political system is broken and our leaders are failing to protect us.

Find out about Extinction Rebellion, an international movement using non-violent mass civil disobedience as a tried and tested way to force governments to take the action that is needed.

‘Heading for Extinction and what to do about it’ generally precedes the Non-Violent Direct Action (NVDA)/Civil Disobedience training. This introductory talk and NVDA training will help you get involved with the XR movement. We also run regular online orientation/Q&A space for new rebels, which introduces you to Extinction Rebellion, how it works, what its aims, principles and values are, and how you can get involved. NVDA training is an introduction for those who want to participate in mass actions and you can also take part in more specific action skills trainings.

‘Heading for Extinction and what to do about it’ provides an up-to-date and honest picture of what is causing the climate emergency, and what needs to happen, urgently, to prevent the worst of climate disasters. There are opportunities for questions and discussion.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll take the controls of En-ROADS: the world-renowned climate simulator built by MIT Sloan and Climate Interactive, used by governments, business leaders, and negotiators around the world. Pull the real levers of change: energy prices, renewables, transport, buildings, land use, population, economic growth, and watch the global temperature respond in real time.

Working in small teams, you’ll debate trade-offs, test your instincts against hard system dynamics, and discover which solutions actually move the needle, and which popular ideas barely shift the dial. Expect some surprises. Almost everyone’s first plan misses the mark, and that’s exactly where the learning starts.

Come ready to argue, experiment, and think like a planetary leader. You’ll leave with a genuine understanding of what it takes to solve climate change, and a sense of what’s truly possible.

No science background needed — just curiosity and a willingness to make some big decisions.

Agenda 1 The mission: You are now the CEO of Earth. You need to manage four goals: climate, nature, economy, and social justice.

2 Meet the simulator Live demo of En-ROADS. See how it responds and establish the baseline: where we’re heading under current policy, what you can do, and how you can see what was impacted.

3 Team huddle Groups of 3–5 form. Before touching the sim, each team debates and sketches a strategy on paper: what will they prioritise, and what will they trade off?

4 Take the controls Teams access the simulation and build their plan, testing levers against the four goals.

5 Report back Each team shares their headline result again one or more of the four goals e.g. final temperature, the economy, nature and social justice as well as one surprising thing they learned.

6 Debrief What actually worked, common traps, and how this maps to real-world action. Closing: what are we taking away?

We live in a world of urgency, crises and finding immediate solutions. But many of the challenges we face aren’t technical, they are relational and systemic. They live in how we meet each other and how we perceive the living systems we’re part of and are in dynamic movement together.

In this Warm Data Lab*, you are invited to step out of fixing, ‘faster’, and fragmentation, into a space for collective conversation, creating conditions of the soil for new ideas and perceptions.

We won’t have panels, presentations or experts. There aren’t going to be five top actions you can take right now.

​​Just story-sharing across the many contexts that shape real life. And in this space of being together, we cultivate different conditions that may just allow some new insight or noticing.

​This is an invitation to slow down, arrive exactly as you are, with all your messy complexity, and be in the stories together. What happens if we shift the conditions that allow for possibility to emerge?

The intention isn’t to achieve certain outcomes or solve problems, but because something often becomes visible in that crossing of perspectives that isn’t visible anywhere else. Its found in the gaps, the contradictions, the unexpected resonances between very different lives and experiences.

These labs can feel unfamiliar. As the process is both deeply familiar, and yet it doesn’t resolve to comfort or clarity. It is important to note that this is not a flaw in the design.

Warm Data itself is Nora Bateson’s term for information that is ‘alive’ and in movement. Information that keeps its context intact, the relationships, conditions and entanglements that give it meaning. Where most data strips that away, noticing warm data reveals these independencies and give us a deeper appreciation of our entanglement.

This event is designed for councils, asset managers, engineers, procurement teams and project managers interested in procuring and delivering low-carbon concrete and asphalt within local government.

The session will bring together professionals from local councils and industry to present case studies involving on how to specify and procure the right materials to move ahead in decarbonising South Australian infrastructure.

The session will explore the practical considerations of planning and delivering a low-carbon infrastructure projects - from early procurement conversations and specification development through to construction, quality assurance and on-site delivery – making implementation visible.

Speakers from different parts of the value chain will share practical experiences, lessons learned and best practices, helping participants understand how low-carbon materials can be specified, procured and delivered within existing council frameworks.

Networking Following the presentations, attendees are invited to stay for an hour of networking.

This provides an opportunity for councils, practitioners and suppliers to continue discussions, share experiences, ask practical questions and build the relationships needed to turn low-carbon ambitions into successful projects.
